Sometimes this is how it feels, and the hopelessness closes in like the night.

In my efforts to bring to you understanding about depression and mental illness disorders I’m always searching for articles and websites which provide good and accurate information. In an article titled “Worst Things to Say to Someone Who’s Depressed” Psych Central has compiled a list of platitudes that people think are helpful to say to a depressed person when in fact they are just the opposite.

When someone is suffering from major depression (commonly referred to as clinical depression) they are dealing with a disease much the same as someone who has diabetes. Scientific studies have shown that there is an irregular amount of chemical activity in the brains of persons suffering from clinical depression.

It seems these “blue moods” are recurring more and more frequently, so you’re concerned there might be a problem. If you’re like I was you might be a bit too prideful or you don’t want to (or can’t afford to) visit your doctor over a little problem of feeling sad about things. Still you need to check things out.
Fortunately there is a simple test that you can take to get an idea if you might be experiencing symptoms of actual depression.
